Homemade ping pong paddle?

Anybody have any tips on making a ping pong paddle like what kind of wood sketches or complete plans for it. And please don't say google it because i have tried that. I was thinking of just putting some sandpaper on the surface instead finding rubber. And tell me to just buy one because i have fun making stuff like this. Thank you in advance.

IDK i like your idea of using sand paper. maybe you can be creative put some foam on one side sand paper on another. =) wish you luck!
