Any tips on how to save money on the wedding?

Im getting married at the end of this summer and catering is outrageous here I want a semi-formal wedding...no jeans or tennis shoes but even khaki shorts and polos are fine b/c its an outdoor wedding! I thought about doing mini wraps and sanwiches from subway and a lot of my friends offered to pitch in and help with other stuff like fondue fountain, cheese tray, ect. Another idea was a taco bar b/c its pretty in expensive as well. Any other ideas on how to cut catering costs and flower costs would be great! Also ideas on how to do cheap table arrangments and flowers for the chairs down the isle would be nice!

Ebay is a blessing when it comes to items for your wedding! I got married on 11/8/08 and Ebay was a BIG part of it! I got the following from ebay: Wedding invitations (had a fall themed wedding), Thank you cards, hand painted aisle runner, my wedding dress, table decorations. Everything was very inexpensive! I saved money on flowers by getting them from the local grocery store florist. I had all roses with a little bit of greenery tied with white satin ribbon. Simple and inexpensive but pretty! As far as decorations down the isle maybe yould do ribbons or other decorations instead of flowers. Or you could have flowers at the first two and last two chairs. Making your own arrangements is the best way to go! You can save money buying flowers in bulk at Costco as well! You can by small vases for the middle of the tables to arrange flowers in, or do what I did and have fish bowls with floating candles. You can get the bowls and vases on ebay or at your local craft store pretty cheap. As far as catering maybe a local BBQ place? Some of them do great catering with all the fixings for a reasnable price. Or if you are having a day time wedding just have finger foods instead of a full meal. Have fun!
